Ski racing. Try it.
You just might get hooked.

The Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council's (CMSC) ski racing program is a great way to hone your ski skills. You don't have to be fast, just willing to try and willing to learn -- speed and skills come along with that! It's a great way to meet people and make the most of Midwest ski hills.

See the CMSC site for details on registration and cost. Contact the Friars if you'd like to try it out or race for our team. It's not going to bring you riches, just bragging rights and a lot more friends.

Race dates and complete information will be on the CMSC racing website and are subject to change based on snow conditions.

Note that the away ski locations are great for non-racers, too. Come on up and ski with us! There's plenty of terrain.

We are all amateur racers who enjoy the fun and the challenge that a slalom or giant slalom race course can add to a Midwest hill. 300 feet of vertical isn't too exciting to a lot of people but if you add 10 - 30 gates to that, you get something special.

Without a doubt, racing makes you a better skier. You will learn to turn when the gate says you turn, and you will learn to control those skis in all snow and weather conditions, while people watch and cheer from above and below.
